The long awaited national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been fixed for February 26, 2022.
Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker and Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, announced this at the APC Progressive Women’s Conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
He urged the women to come out massively and contest in the forthcoming “national convention holding by 26th of February 2022.”
Buni said the party realised that it has over 40 million members after the revalidation exercise held last year.
The convention was expected to hold in 2020 but was twice postponed and the caretaker committee’s mandate was renewed. Controversy has dogged the convention because many state APC chapters factionalised, with some having two or more state executives. A reconciliation committee headed by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former Governor of Nasarawa State, is going round the country, trying to reconcile them ahead of the convention.
