The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, is dead.
He died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Friday night at the age of 83.
His remains was said to have been taken to Oyo town, Oyo State, in the early hours of Saturday
for the traditional burial rites.
The monarch had been sick and was to be flown abroad before he passed on late Friday night.
He was on the throne for 52 years before his demise, making him the longest-reigning Alaafin.
