Less than 24 hours after Marte military base attack, Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists again invaded military bases in Rann, Gajiram and Dikwa in the State, killing at least four soldiers.
An anonymous army survivor during the Marte attack, revealed that the insurgents who came on Bajaj motorcycles with light arms (AK-47s, limited RPGs), made away with five gun trucks, two MRAPs, and BTR.
In the latest attacks which took place on Tuesday, security and local sources revealed that all the attacks happened in the early hours of day, adding that the insurgents lost many fighters in Dikwa and Gajiram, where the military repelled their attacks.
Four soldiers were killed and six others injured in the attack on the military formation in Rann. “They also set ablaze MRAP, a gun truck and a Russian-made T-72,” one of the sources said.
An anonymous local said the terrorists stormed the military base around midnight and engaged the troops for hours before they overran the base.
“The military retreated. They looted weapons including gun trucks before leaving the base.
He said the terrorists retreated when a fighter jet arrived the military location.
Rann, a border town, is a remote town in Kala-Balge Local Government Area which is about 175 to 200 kilometers east of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The journey is arduous due to the poor condition of the roads and insecurity in the region.
