Maiduguri and environs have been plunged into darkness again barely 48 hours after restoration of power which triggered wild jubilation on the streets.
The Borno state capital has been in total blackout for more than two months due to Boko Haram destruction of power lines until two days ago when Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) restored bulk power to the city.
The insurgents reportedly cut off another section of the 330 kilovolts Damaturu- Maiduguri transmission line on Saturday.
TCN officials have confirmed the incident.
He said the insurgents have bombed tower 152 and 153 on Damaturu – Maiduguri (Molai) 330kv line at around 5:56am on Saturday, thereby Maiduguri and its environs to blackout out again.
On January 26, Boko Haram had attacked the 330kV Damaturu – Maiduguri transmission line around the Jakana area of the town, destroying three towers and severing the capital city from the national power grid.
