The Sokoto Chief Magistrate Court has remanded one Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunchi in Sokoto correction centre over the recent mob action that led to the killing of one Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto.
Deborah was beaten and stoned to death for allegedly blasphemed Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on Thursday.
When the case was called for mentioning, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Khalil Musa said the suspects were arraigned as a result of the recent mob action that led to the lynching of the victim.
He, therefore, urged the court to give them another time because they were yet to complete their investigation.
When the charges was read, the defendants pleaded no guilty.
However, their defence counsels led by Professor Mansur Ibrahim, urged the court to grant them bail.
The court however, adjourned the sitting till a later date which to be communicated to the counsels for ruling on the application, and ordered for the defendants to be remanded at the correctional centre of Sokoto state.
