The country has been thrown into darkness following the collapse of the national power grid.
The grid collapse occured at about 6:58pm on Monday.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in a notice to its customers attributed the power outage in its franchise areas to the grid collapse.
“Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 6:58pm today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas.
“Rest assured we are working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilised,” it said.
