The All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamawa State chapter, has supported the decision of former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman EFCC Malam Nuhu Ribadu not to continue his legal battle with Sen. Aisha Dahiru Binani’s gubernatorial ambition.
It would be recalled that on November 24, the Yola Division of the Court of Appeal reinstated Senator Asiha Ahmad Sinani as the governorship candidate of the party in the State.
The Appeal Court had set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court, which last month voided the APC primary in May and declared the APC had no validly elected candidate.
The Appeal Court, in an unanimous judgment dismissed the appeals by the APC and Nuhu Ribadu, who were the three appellants in the case asking for a fresh primary.
In a reaction to Ribadu’s latest decision, Secretary of the party in the state, Raymond Chidama said Ribadu should be appreciated for his show of loyalty and sportsmanship.
“On behalf of the state executive of our great party under the leadership of Samaila Tadawus, we wish to appreciate you for this singular act of sacrifice.
“Your decision will ensure cohesion and unity among our supporters ensuring that the party is now one big family,” the statement said.
The trial court in the first instance has debarred APC from fielding a candidate in the election. Binani then approached the appellate court where she got a judgement in her favor as the court reinstated her as the party’s Gubernatorial candidate.
