This summer saw a record amount of nearly £6 billion spent on international transfers, with Saudi clubs paying over £700 million.
According to FIFA’s International Transfer Snapshot, which was released on Friday, the amount spent by Pro League clubs was second only to the Premier League, whose teams spent just under £1.6 billion on international transactions alone.
In total, $5.89 billion was spent worldwide during the summer window, and the projected agents’ fees for 2023 are already at a record-high $558 million. Deal expenditure in 2023 is up 26.8% from the previous mid-year record established in 2019 and up 47% from the same period last year.
