The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has lifted the immigrant visa ban placed on Nigerians by his predecessor, Donald Trump.
Report by Bloomberg says the reversal was contained in the 17 executive orders signed by Biden on Wednesday.
it says Biden also reversed the systemic ban placed on citizens from Muslim dominated countries.
Trump had in February 2020 placed an immigrant visa ban on Nigeria, citing Nigeria’s lack of a robust database.
Biden on Wednesday began reversing Trump’s immigration policies, part of an aggressive push to roll back some of the most controversial actions of his predecessor and chart a new course for the nation, Bloomberg says.
Other countries affected by Biden’s reversal policy include: Iran, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and North Korea., Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Eritrea, Venezuela and Tanzania.”
