The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala, Most Rev. Isaac Dugu, has advised the incoming administration in Benue to collaborate with the Church and traditional institutions to enhance peace and progress in the state.
Dugu gave the advice on Sunday during the Thanksgiving Mass organized in honour of Governor-elect, Rev. Hyacinth Alia at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral, Makurdi.
The Religious Subcommittee of Alia’s inauguration, headed by Rev. Frederick Ikyaan, organised the service.
He also advised the incoming governor to remain prayerful and work for the common good of all Benue people.
The Bishop said that the government must hit the ground running and reverse all negative indices including non payment of salaries and pensions, within its first 100 days in office.
Alia solicited for prayers for him to succeed as governor, adding “we need God’s wisdom for the promotion, progress and development of Benue.”
He therefore solicited the support and cooperation of all Benue people, saying “the administration can only be made excellent through the collaborative efforts of all”.
The Thanksgiving Mass was attended by the Catholic Diocese of Wukari, officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Benue and other distinguished sons and daughters of the state.
