The Benue State House of Assembly on Wednesday approved three months suspension for the chairman Vandekiya local government council, Kukase Garba, over alleged misconduct.
The suspension followed a letter sent to the assembly by the State Governor through the speaker of the House. It cited alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office and running of the local government as sole-administrator by the chairman.
All the members of the House approved the suspension after the Speaker, Titus Uba, had read the letter on the floor of the House.
Uba thereafter confirmed the suspension of the council chairman for three months.
The government said the chairman’s suspension was in line with the Benue State Local Government Establishment Law, 2007.
