Four farmers were reportedly killed and four others abducted as bandits attacked Maridi community in Isa local government of Sokoto state.
According to eyewitness accounts, the farmers were attacked while on their way to farm on Monday around 8am.
It was said that, the attackers ambushed them, slaughtered and butchered four with marchets and went away with another four.
“There are others who are still unaccounted for,” one of the accounts said.
It added that, “the bandits laid ambush for the farmers while going to work on their farmlands.
“They slaughtered four of them and abducted another four. And there are some who are still missing, we don’t know whether they have ran into the bush or they are kidnapped too,” he said
He added that, “two of the slain farmers were buried in the morning and we are about to bury the remaining two.
The Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i however said he was not aware of the attack.
He said he would reach out to the officer in charge of the area call back.
However, the chairman of Isa local Government area, Alhaji Sharifu Kamarawa confirmed the attack to this newspaper.
