Communities in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State have been asked to pay N24 million levies to bandits or face attacks.
The communities include Wawan Iccen Salihu, Gaude, Tungar Gebe, Wawan Iccen Ibrahim, Galle, Nannarki, Ruwan Kura, Gangara and Yargalma.
The affected communities are expected to cough out N500,000 to N5m each depending on their population, locals said.
It was gathered that the bandits have already communicated their demands to traditional rulers through letters delivered by kidnapped victims.
The affected communities are already moblising to raise the sum so as to avert attacks.
