Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai says bandits are becoming bolder that they now attack military camps and ambush soldiers during patrols.
The governor said this on Monday El-Rufai spoke in Kaduna, when he received the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno who led the Service Chiefs to a meeting with governors from the Northwest and critical others stakeholder from the region, in Kaduna.
He said the security situation in the region would have been worse if the military and other security agencies had not lived up to their responsibilities.
El-Rufai urged the Federal Government to recruit more security personnel and strengthen them with better equipment.
Munguno said President Muhammadu Buhari was worried about deteriorating security situation in the region, adding that the president was committed to bringing an end to the situation.
“Conflict in the 21st century is different from what we had in the last century. So, we need to work together with security chiefs to address it,” he said.
“That is why we took the bull by the horn to deal with threats, emergent threats seen and unseen.
“I don’t want to believe that we cannot put an end to insecurity in this country, perhaps we don’t have the will to do that. There is a need for all of us in the community to work together to deal with this issue.”
