Nine residents of Danmusaa town and a police officer in Katsina State have been killed when gunmen invaded the town.
An anonymous local narrated that attackers stormed the town around 8pm on Sunday and operated for hours, killing nine people, including a policeman, adding that scores were also kidnapped with others injured.
The local said the gunmen went from house to house to Rob owners of their wares
“As I speak to you, there are security agents shooting guns,” he said, as at the time of filing this report.
Another resident said two of the those killed were his neighbours, adding that the policeman who was killed during the house-to-house raid after they saw his uniform.
“We are currently preparing their bodies for funeral,” he said, adding that about seven people were also kidnapped.
The gunmen were reportedly on reprisal attack following the killing of a gang leader by the newly commissioned community watch corps in the local government area.
“There was a bandits kingpin close to Katsira village who boasted that he would eliminate the new community watch corps. They mobilized and killed him in the process.
“It was a few days a go, and that is why we strongly believe that his boys mobilized to carry out this attack,” he said.
The states police spokesperson in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said five persons were killed.
