Bandits have invaded four communities in the volatile eastern part of Sokoto state, killing 15 persons.
The coordinated attacks took place in two different local government areas almost at the same time.
The bandits invaded the villages around 12 midnight and operated for hours.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE learnt that three persons were killed at Kojiyo village in Goronyo local government area while five women were abducted by the attackers.
However, three communities including Runji, Kalmalo and Munwadata were attacked at Illela local government area where 12 persons were killed and several others abducted.
The attackers were also said to have broken into many shops and looted their goods.
Confirming the attacks, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal while presenting the 2022 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly condoled the people of the two local government areas over the loss of lives to the attacks.
“Let me start by condoling the people of Goronyo and Illela local government areas over the last night attacks by bandits who killed 12 persons in Illela and three persons in Goronyo,” he said.
