A bandit leader terrorising residents of Sabuwa and Faskari local government area of Katsina State, Dogo Nabajallah, has been killed during a battle with a rival gang.

A source in Dungun Mu’azu, a community in the area, confirmed the development to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE. He said the incident happened Wednesday evening.

“What we know for now is that the two gangs have been fighting for years but the hostility reached its peak when one of Nabajallah’s favorite boys defeated another guy from a rival gang in seeking the hand of a divorcee in marriage,” the source said.

He added that the other gang upon finding out that their friend had been defeated, and looking at the status of Dogo Nabajallah, they decided to take it personally.

Another source in Funtua, who also craved anonymity, said Nabajallah was taken unawares, having been attacked in his own house Wednesday morning.

“They were angry over his (Nabajallah’s) interference in the marriage issue, hence their decision to kill him. You know they had always been rivals for years, the marriage issue served as the breaking point for them,” the source said.

He said on realising that their leader had been killed, Nabajallah’s boys decided to take revenge which resulted to the death of three members of the rival gang.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Gambo Isa, said the Divisional Police Officer in Sabuwa also “heard the rumour”, and the command has launched an investigation into the incident.

“I’ll release a statement when we confirm the story, please,” he said.
