Bandits have killed three persons and kidnapped over 20 others in attacks in Katsina communities from Thursday to Friday.
The terrorists of about 20 attacked Bakori community, kidnapped seven family members of one Malam Muntari Samuru. Though Samuru was not killed, but the bandits left him with machete cuts.
The attack took place in the night around 8:15 pm when worshippers were observing the Islamic prayers, said a resident, Mohammed Sani.
Before the Bakori attack, a woman and seven other people were kidnapped and one Malam Hamisu Barebari was killed.
A resident said the terrorists hid in nearby farms and killed a woman on her way to grind corn in Bakori; they pounced on her and killed her. Three of the seven abducted people managed to escape back home,” Umar Barebari, a resident said.
In Kurami village along Funtua-Bakori road, kidnappers at about 8:00pm stormed the settlement and seized three children.
According to the father of a victim, Malam Umar Kurami, the bandits reluctantly spared him, but went away with his child.
“It was like a dream when bandits pointed guns at me in my house, demanding money; when they realized that I had no money, they walked me out along my child but later asked me to go and source the ransom of my child,” he said.
Other communities attacked include Majema and Tashar Gero villages in Tandama area on Friday in Danja LGA, where they killed one Malam Isah Majema and kidnapped one Alhaji Wada’s three children.
