Bandits have killed at least six persons, including two expatriates and two police inspectors and abducted 14 Indians on Friday in in Kogi state.
Two drivers of the Indians working with the West Africa Ceramics Company Ajaokuta, Kogi state.
Spokesperson of the police command, SP William Ovye-Aya, disclosed on Saturday in a statement in Lokoja.
He said the six victims died in the exchange of fire with the hoodlums along Lokoja-Ajaokuta road around 8 p.m on Friday.
The expatriates were being escorted by police to the Ceramic company that evening, when the gunmen attacked them, he said.
Mr Ovye- Aya said the Area Commander and a detachment of Military in the area had to reinforced to the scene of incident before the attackers fled.
He said the Kogi Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, had visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
