Over 40 people were killed when bandits launched multiple attacks on five communities in Zamfara state on Thursday.
Sources said all the five communities attacked are in Faru district of Maradun Local Government Area of the state.
The affected communities include Gudan Baushi, Gidan Adamu, Tsauni, Gudan Maidawa and Wari.
Dozens of the bandits arrived at the communities on motorcycles firing sporadically, another source said .
The assailants took away cows and other animals in house to house operations that lasted several hours.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
