Bandits have killed a farmer and kidnapped 16 others in Kaduna communities of Dinki village in Gwada ward.
Jafaru Anaba, a local community leader, confirmed the incident, expressing concern that more individuals might be missing.
Anaba described the area as under constant bandit siege, instilling fear among residents.
“We are under bandit siege,they attacked our villages sa’a with impunity on Saturday night, killing one person and abducting about 16 others,” he said.
He explained further that the community is still searching for others to determine the exact number of those abducted.
The local leader also said despite ongoing military clearance operations in nearby bushes, the bandits persist in invading communities, disrupting the peace and sleep of residents.
He also disclosed that in Unguwar Liman under Gwada ward, 14 out of 30 villagers were kidnapped over a month ago remain in captivity.
The bandits, after collecting N6.5 million from the villagers, demand an additional N12 million ransom for the release of the remaining captives.
Anaba urged the government to escalate rescue operations to ensure the safety of the victims.
Efforts to contact the State Police Command, including the Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, proved unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
