Many people have been killed and several others injured in bandits attack on Jaya communities in Boko district, Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State.
The gunmen also rustled several livestock during the attack.
A security source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that over 100 assillants on motorcycles, invaded the communities Monday evening.
He said before the attack on Monday, some bandits made an attempt to attack a village, but were repelled by vigilantes, killing many of the bandits.
The source also said that the death of their colleagues angered the bandits who later reinforced and attacked the communities, killing many people.
He said the remains of the victims and the injured persons, which he said he could ascertain their numbers, had been taken to a medical facility in Gusau, the state capital.
The state police command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
