A health worker, Malam Lauwali Musa has been killed by bandits in a night attack on Moriki community of Zurmi in Zamfara State on Tuesday.
Eight other civilians in the community were also abducted by the bandits during the over 30 minutes attack, 21 Century Chronicles gathers from local sources.
Lauwali, a health educator in Zurmi area, was said to have refused being abducted when the bandits stormed his house around 12:00am.
“They wanted to abduct him and take him into the bush but he said he would not follow them, which prompted the bandits to shot him,” a colleague of the slain health worker told 21 Century Chronicles over the phone Tuesday morning.
Four of the eight abducted victims were the children of the slain health worker.
The police spokesman in Zamfara, Yazid Abubakar didn’t respond to an SMS sent to him while his known phone number was unreachable.
Health workers are among the major victims of the over one decade banditry conflict in the northwest.
