Residents of Moda communities of Anka local government area in Zamfara state have been displaced while five of them killed by bandits in a Sunday night attack.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the bandits, numbering about fifty, stormed the village on motorcycles.
Those killed were all men and were shot while trying to run away when the bandits stormed the village.
Efforts by this reporter to speak to some of the resident who fled the village failed. This reporter gathered that the displaced persons are being camped at the Sarkin Zamfara Anka palace IDP camp.
A resident of Anka, Ibrahim Danda, a lawyer said the sounds of gunshots could be heard in the Anka town from 11pm to 1am while the residents were being attacked.
“You know Moda village is not far from FGC Anka and that is why we’re worried. The village is not far from the Anka main town which also makes us uncomfortable,” he said.
He added that the residents of Moda told them that all domestic animals in the community were rustled by the bandits.
“They said some of the bandits decided to take away the animals while the others were shooting sporadically. They also conducted house to house search for food stuff and money,” he said.
