Bandits on Tuesday night murdered a commercial driver and attacked passengers along the Galadimawa–Tumburku Road in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources revealed that the attackers struck about 8:40pm on December 16 as they blocked the road and shot sporadically at motorists.
They targeted a Volkswagen Golf vehicle with four passengers.
The driver, who could not be identified, was shot during the attack and later confirmed dead at a hospital closeby.
Zagazola Makama report revealed four passengers namely Rabiu Lawal, 30; Binta Salisu, 40; Balkisu Yahaya, 30; and Karima Yusuf, 40 were rescued alive and taken to safety, according to the report.
Relatives of the deceased driver have since been informed.
Following the attack, troops in collaboration with other security agencies were said to have intensified operations in the area to track down the perpetrators, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
