The eldest son of a serving lawmaker of Bauchi State Bala Ali has been killed by gunmen, spokesperson for the House of Assembly, Abdul Burra has said.
The Speaker of the House Abubakar Suleiman said that the member representing Burra Constituency, Ado Wakili, disclosed this during the House’s sitting under personal explanation.
Tuesday’s plenary was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Danlami Ahmed Kawule.
The Speaker directed that a special prayer be conducted for the deceased. Bello Shira representing Shira Constituency led the special prayer.
The speaker announced that the lawmakers would pay a condolence visit to the member and his family immediately after the plenary.
Burra said Baballe Dambam representing Dambam/Zagaya/Jalam Constituency while narrating what happened, said the deceased was kidnapped by unknown people who held him for days and subsequently killed him.
He described the incident as shocking and disturbing, adding that the funeral prayers for the deceased had already taken place.
The state Police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil, said the deceased’s two wives and one-year-old child were also abducted by the gunmen.
