Major A.G Mohammed of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army has been reportedly killed by bandits in Katsina state.
The late Mohammed was a member of Operation Hadarin Daji and the Commander overseeing military operations in the Yan Tumaki, Dan Ali and Kankara axes of the state.
A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, revealed this via his X handle on Friday.
Makama said, “The news of the demise of Major Ag Mohammed of 17 Brigade Katsina State, Operation Hadarin DAJI is indeed heart-wrenching.
“Mohammed paid the supreme price while combating bandits in the North West of Katsina State.
“Until his death, he serves as the commander covering Yantumaki, Dan Ali and Kankara Axis. He was one of the most gallant, courageous and highly dedicated officers.”
The Nigerian Army was yet to react to this development as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the mutilated corpses of soldiers killed in last Friday’s attack by suspected bandits in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State have been discovered.
The soldiers were killed when they engaged bandits in a duel in the Roro, Kagara, and Rumace communities, Bassa Ward in the Shiroro LGA.
The soldiers were ambushed on a mission to combat the bandits occupying the forest and there was a shootout which resulted in casualties on the side of the soldiers and the bandits.
