Bandits have killed three people including the grandfather of a councilor, Bello Sani, in a reprisal attack in Lamba community in Bakura local government area of Zamfara state.
The bandits have also abducted four people and wounded several others during the attack Monday night.
This is coming a few hours after bandits suspected to be loyal to Turji attacked the Badarawa community in Shinkafi.
There were also reported air bombardments in the Shinkafi-Zurmi- Jibia axis where some commanders under the Turji camp were said to have been killed.
Hamza Muhammad Bakura, told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the attack on Lamba was a reprisal one.
“Local vigilante members killed many suspected bandits. And from what we gathered from reliable sources, those killed were elderly Fulani, suspected to be parents to some bandits in Halilu Kachalla’s camp,” she said.
“During the attack on Monday, the bandits even told some of the victims that they were being attacked because of what the vigilante members did to their elders,” he said.
He added that the four people kidnapped consisted of three children and an adult all from one family.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu, said he couldn’t speak to our reporter “due to poor network.” He didn’t respond to the sms sent to him over the story.
