Residents of Kadaddaba have fled their communities for Anka town after bandits killed 10 people in a Friday night attack on the village.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the bandits stormed the area around 10pm when residents were retiring to bed.
A local journalist, Bashar Shatima, told this newspaper that the bandits also rustled domestic animals.
“I was on phone with my sister this morning assessing the situation and she told me that six people are in our house seeking refuge from the village. The ten people killed were mostly men while those seeking refuge are mostly women. She told me that some of the men in the village have gone back to retrieve the corpses and they counted ten dead bodies,” he said.
He added that when the bandits stormed the village, they started conducting a house to house search looking for domestic animals.
“After they gathered enough animals, they started shooting sporadically. Some of those killed were killed while trying to repel attempts to take away their animals,” he added.
State Police Command spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, didn’t respond to calls and SMS sent to him on the attack.
