One person has been killed and six family members abducted by bandits at Lagbeta village around Abuja-Lokoja highway, in Kogi local government area of Kogi State.
A security source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the incident happened at about 10 am on Wednesday morning, adding that the kidnappers waylaid the victims at gunpoint when they were busy harvesting.
He said while they were moving the victims into the forest, one of them attempted to escape and was shot dead.
The source remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary.
The state police command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
