Gunmen have kidnapped Gyang Balak, the Da Gwom Rwei of Vwang district in Jos-south LGA of Plateau state.
The monarch was reportedly abducted while driving home on Sunday night.
He was said to have been abducted a few metres before the main gate of the National Institute For Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru in Jos.
The media officer of operation safe haven (OPSH), Ishaku Takwa, said the chief was kidnapped on his way to the Vom area of the state.
He said troops of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies have launched a manhunt for the criminals.
“Troops of OPSH in conjunction with other security agencies are on trial for the kidnappers,” he said.
“God’s willing, the security agencies will soon close-up on the criminals.”
The incident comes a few weeks after the abduction of Charles Mato, the Sum Pyem of Gindiri in Mangu LGA of the state.
Mato was abducted from his residence in Gindiri.
