Bandits have abducted several women in Katsina state including a bride that was taken to her matrimonial home Saturday evening.
The bandits, villagers told this newspaper, stormed Muji village in Kurfi local government area around 8pm and made away with the bride and her maidens.
A husband to one of the abducted women, Aisha Muhammad, said his wife is five months pregnant.
“They (bandits) stormed the community few hours after the bride was taken to her matrimonial home. My wife is her sister and so she told me she would spend the night at the house because the husband would only go to his wife a day after the wedding.
“Around 8:15pm while I was in Dutsin Ma, I received a call that my wife has been abducted among other women including Sadiya, the bride,” he said.
Though Ibrahim Abdullahi, the husband, said he didn’t know how many women were abducted, he said they could be more than 15.
Police spokesperson in the state, SP Gambo Isa, said the attackers were running from security agents in Tamawa village when they decided to strike Muji.
He said the command has intensified efforts to rescue the abducted victims.
