Eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were kidnapped along a highway in Zamfara State by suspected bandits.
Yazid Abubakar, a police spokesperson in Zamfara, stated that he will investigate the event.
The victims were kidnapped on Saturday while traveling from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto on their way to Zamfara State.
When the bandits intercepted their vehicle, they were on their way to perform their mandated national duty.
According to reports, 11 members of the corps were kidnapped, but three escaped.
Aside from the eight corps members, the bus driver was also kidnapped.
It is also reported that the family of one of the victims, Betty Udofia, has been contacted and that the kidnappers have demanded N4 million in ransom.
