At least 15 persons mostly women and children have been abducted by bandits in Sabon Layin village of Bakori area of Katsina State Thursday night.
Though local authorities in Bakori area had about three different meetings with bandits’ leaders in the area to reach a peace deals, bandits have continued to attack communities under the local government area.
The victims were abducted mainly from three houses in the area.
“The attackers could have abducted more obviously if not for the members of the Community Watch Corps that came and engaged the bandits in a fight,” a resident of Kakumi who only identified his name as Ahmad, told this reporter.
“when the C Watch members came, the bandits had already started gathering people so the security agents couldn’t shot directly at the bandits which gave them the chance to escape with the victims.”
He said when the bandits stormed the community, they went first to the residence of one Aliyu and rounded up his wives and children.
“From there, the bandits also entered another house belonging to Aliyu’s brother and abducted more people. They also entered another resident. That’s when the C Watch Corps members came,” Mr Ahmad said.
