Four soldiers were feared killed after suspected bandits ambushed their vehicles in Sokoto state.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the soldiers were ambushed while patrolling Kukurau-Bangi road in Gudu local government area of Sokoto state.
According to our findings, the incident occurred on Saturday around 4pm.
Our reporter learnt that two others were injured just as some of the bandits were said to be killed during the gun fight.
The member, representing Gudu at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Yahya Gudu, has confirmed the attack which he described as unfortunate.
Speaking to our reporter on telephone, he said the bandits laid ambush to the operatives who were on routine patrol.
“They killed four of them and injured two. I also learnt that some of the bandits were killed by the soldiers.
“The bandits also set their patrol vehicles on fire.,” he said.
He added that, “we called and informed our governor who contacted heads of security agencies.
“A reinforcement was deployed to the area on the same day,” he added.
Our reporter could not reach out to the spokesman of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Leutenant Colonel Ikechukwu Eze as he was not responding to calls.
