Gunmen have reportedly killed 13 persons on their farms in the Anguwan Mai-Giro community of Shiroro Local Government in Niger State.
The attack occurred on Wednesday.
In a statement on Thursday, the state Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, described the attack as “satanic, insensible, atrocious and callous.”
Garba said it is “utterly appalling and deeply disturbing” to see people perpetrate such a “barbaric and vicious act” against fellow humans.
He expressed condolences to the grieving families, residents, and the Shiroro community.
The deputy government said the state government remains resolute in its quest to restore peace and security across Niger, and tasked security agencies to remain steadfast and undeterred in their efforts, assuring them of full support in their battle against criminal elements.
