Mukhtar Lugga, Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State governor has escaped unhurt after a group of bandits ambushed him on Funtua – Tsafe highway on Thursday.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathers from close associates of the politician that the bandits fired several shots at the SUV but the driver didn’t stop.
The attack occurred around 06:16pm around Kucheri village, a spot notorious for bandits’ attacks on the 100 kilometres road.
“Bandits attacked our leader, Moukhtar Lugga between on the Funtua – Gusau road, but no life loss. They fired at his car but he is in sound health. The situation on the road has worsen in the last few days, may Allah continue to protect us,” Naseer Lugga, a staff of the Chief of Staff posted on Facebook on Thursday.
This reporter gathered that Lugga was returning from an official trip from Kaduna.
Another attack on Anka – Gurusu road
Bandits also injured seven people on Thursday after their vehicle was attacked on the Gurusu – Anka road.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the road that links part of Zamfara to Kebbi and Niger States is one of the most vulnerable roads in the state.
“The bandits were crossing to the Bukkuyum part of the forest when they saw the car and opened fire at it,” a health worker who asked not to be named told this newspaper. “We’ve seven of them (victims) here at the Anka General Hospital all seriously injured.”
He said no life loss was recorded as at the time of filing this report.
Yazid Abubakar the police spokesman in the state didn’t respond to SMS and WhatsApp messages sent to him on the attacks.
