Three policemen sustained injuries when bandits attacked the convoy of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, while on its way from Zamfara to Kano.
A source close to the governor who confirmed the incident said it happened when the convoy was making its way to Kano from Zamfara state, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally was held on Tuesday.
Ganduje was among the governors who visited Gusau, Zamfara capital, to welcome Governor Bello Matawalle and key Zamfara politicians who officially defected to the ruling party at a mega rally in Gusau.
The source, however, said Ganduje was not in his official vehicle, as he joined the convoy of his Jigawa State counterpart, Badaru Abubakar, after the rally in Gusau.
He said scores of bandits barricaded the road and opened fire on sighting the convoy from a distance.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE earlier reported that a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Muhammed Ahmad, was killed by bandits near Sheme in Katsina State, while on his way to Kano after attending the APC rally.
