Bandits have abducted several traders after attending the Goronyo weekly market on Sunday.
The abductees include those trading in beans and onion. A trader was killed while six others were wounded during the attack, a vigilante told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
The chairman of Goronyo local government, Alhaji Abdulwahab Goronyo confirmed the attack.
He said the bandits blocked the road with fire woods around 9pm on Sunday, forcing the traders’ vehicle to somersault.
Goronyo said, “The bandits opened fire on the truck after it fell. We evacuated traders and the injured are receiving treatment in our hospital.”
He said “the assailants also kidnapped many traders who we are still trying to identify and know their number.”
The chairman blamed informants for the attack.
