Bandits have killed two women in Masamar Mudi, Bukkuyum local government area and kidnapped several others in a Friday night attack.
This is coming barely 24 hours after 76 people have been kidnapped by gunmen in Rini, Bakura local government area.
Rini is a communtiy under Bakura local government where 15 students and four staff of College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences were kidnapped last Sunday.
Malam Abdullahi Abubakar, a local source in Gummi, said the attack in Masamar Mudi lasted for five hours.
“As I speak to you now, the villagers are still counting to ascertain the number of those killed,” he said.
A local, Gambo Haruna, told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE via phone that the Rini kidnapping took place around 11 am Thursday where the innocent villagers were kidnapped.
“Nobody was killed during the attack but some people have been hospitalized. I’m presently in the General Hospital Talata Mafara with one of my friends who was shot in the leg. Those kidnapped are over seventy.”
Mr. Gambo said those who got scared and ran into the bush have started returning back to the village.
Only sixty people kidnapped
In his comment however, the Zamfara state information commissioner, Ibrahim Dosara, said 60 people were confirmed kidnapped in the attack on Rini town.
He noted that the state government has intensified efforts to rescue all kidnapped victims and reunite them with their families.
Zamfara Police spokesperson, SP Shehu Muhammad, confirmed the incident but report that the figure of those abducted based on the record from the police stand at 66.
He explained that the police command has already deployed adequate number of its tactical personals with a view to making sure that the people have been rescued.
