Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal says the notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji and members of his gang will soon be history.
Tambuwal gave the assurance on Saturday at the launching of Sokoto Eastern Zone Development Association at Gwadabawa local government area.
He said some new measures were taken, which would bring banditry to an end.
Tambuwal said government would soon review some of the measures that were taken to curtail bandits’ attacks in the state.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE recalls that the state government banned weekly markets, sale of petrol in jerry cans among others, as part of non-kinetic measures to curtail banditry in the state.
A former governor of the state, Attahiru Bafarawa said the whole of the eastern part of the state was characterized by insecurity and poverty.
“This is not a political or religious gathering. It is meant to tell ourselves the truth and nothing but the truth. We cannot fold our hands to wait for government to solve our problems. We must unite and help ourselves before government can come in,” he said.
“The government has donated vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies but are we seeing them?
“This will be part of the mandate of this committee to ensure government property are protected and used judiciously,” he added.
Over N300 million was realised as donation for the development and security in the area.
