Students from Sokoto under the auspices of Sokoto State Students Leaders Forum have called on the federal government to reclaim all the enclaves of bandits in the state within 14 days.
Addressing a press conference in Sokoto over the incessant killings and kidnaping, the Secretary of the forum, Muhammad Aminu, said residents of the state were tired of rhetorics and endless assurances by the government.
“We rather want to see a concrete action aimed at containing the excesses of bandits in our dear state otherwise we will be left with no choice but to use other alternative means of airing out our Demands,” he said
The students asked President Muhammadu Buhari to visit the state to interact with the field Commanders in order to identify the problems hindering the progress of the fight against banditry in the state.
They also urged the president to apologize to the people of the Sokoto, and put mechanism in place for the compensation of the victims of banditry in the state to enable them pick the pieces of their lives and start all over again.
The youths urged the government to do whatever it takes to protect the lives of the citizens as enshrined in the constitution, adding “no part of the state should be allowed to be administered by Bandits and their lackeys.”
” We also want Federal Government to immediately secure farmlands and ensure the safety of farmers in their farms as acute shortage of food and hunger crises is staring the people at their face.”
