Repentant criminals compromise operations and reveal secret information to criminal elements, hence won’t be accepted as members of vigilante groups, the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Umar Muri, has said.
He said this on Monday when he joined other heads of security agencies with the state Commisoner for Internal Securiry and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on a visit to Emir of Zazzau.
“I want to appeal to the Emir of Zazzau that the security agencies are not many and we want the Emir of Zazzau to give us the best so that we will be able to form vigilante not repentant criminals,” Muri said.
He said the command prefered to work with people with the fear of God as vigilantes to tackle the security challenges in Zaria and across the state.
The State Director, Department of Security Service, Idris Kwayah, urged the emir to convince district heads and village heads to feel free to support security agencies, adding that are always afraid of providing information to security agencies about the bandits’ movement in their communities.
