Hafsat Waziri popularly known on social media as Babiana, the “Queen of Updates,” has within a short period established herself as one of the celebrated Nigerian social media influencers. She was known for sharing gossip and exposing others’ secrets on social media, especially the tiktok.
With time, Babiana became one of the sought after Hausa social media influencers, dreaded by many and celebrated by few. Her chosen line made her step on many toes because of her role as an “update” provider, sharing negative information about others. Ofcourse, this wasn’t going down well with many in the society, especially those at the receiving end.
Based on her antecedents, those she has hurt on social media had vowed to take their pound of flesh.
Suddenly Babiana’s nude video leaked, sparking hot debate on social media. Though Babiana denied sharing her videos, she accused some of hypocrisy of those who felt she is not worth celebrating.
However, many counter accused her of being a hypocrite by sharing others’ secrets, and now that she is at the receiving end, she should carry her cross.
Just when the saga was fizzling out of public attention, the social media influencer ran into another trouble with a Maiduguri-based Kannywood actor Bana. Both stars engaged themselves in a verbal video war, and from nowhere, supporters of Bana searched for Babiana’s leaked video and started sharing it all over again. This hit Babiana so hard she took to her page and made a video begging for help and claiming she had been battling depression for months.
“I’ve been depressed for almost a year. I can’t hold it anymore,” Babiana cried in the video, calling on VeryDarkMan and others to “save her” from what she described as coordinated blackmail by members of her own Arewa community.
The clip of her emotional appeal went viral shortly after the alleged nude video began circulating across various social platforms, sparking reactions and widespread discussion among Nigerians on TikTok, Facebook, and other social media platforms
Unfortunately for Babiana, VeryDarkMan turned down her appeal, and instead mocked her in a post made under his verified handle. VDM told “Babiana aka Queen of Updates, by now you suppose don cry. Please come and answer me ooo. I don’t want to add to your wahala.”
He accused her of “false advertisement,” mocking her previous brand endorsements and referencing her alleged hypocrisy.
Many online users expressed shock over the leaked footage sparking a mixed reaction, with some supporting Babiana and condemning the invasion of her privacy despite the fact that she had already made it clear that she didn’t do any of such videos, while others called it karma for her past behaviour of leaking others’ private content, adding that it is a pure case of ‘what goes around comes around.’
