The son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, on Monday resigned as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State Government after serving two successful terms in office.
His resignation is contained in a letter his Administrative Personal Assistant and Media Team Lead, Abdulaziz Mallam Jauro addressed to Governor Ahmadu Umoru Fintiri of Adamawa State.
In the March 2, 2026 letter, Abubakar expressed profound gratitude to Fintiri for giving him the rare privilege and confidence bestowed upon him to serve in such a strategic capacity.
The out going commissioner said the opportunity given to him to serve in the government of the state was an honour of immense significance and pledged continued loyalty and support to the administration’s developmental vision.
The letter reads: “The former Commissioner also extended heartfelt appreciation to his father for granting him the moral support and blessing to serve the people of Adamawa State.
He commended the Permanent Secretaries of Works and Energy, the directors, engineers, and the entire staff of the ministry for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication to infrastructural advancement across the state.
Special appreciation was conveyed to the great people of Jada, his community, for their steadfast prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He emphasized that his resignation does not mark the end of his commitment to public service, but rather the beginning of new avenues for developmental collaboration.
He, however, did not state reason for his resignation from the government whose tenure will end on May 28, 2027, but reaffirmed his readiness to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth, unity, and progress of Adamawa State.
