Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will reclaim the presidency during the 2023 general elections.
Atiku spoke during a courtesy call on Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, in Benin City on Monday.
A statement by the media aide to Obaseki, Crusoe Osagie, quoted the former vice president as saying that his “meeting with the governor centered on governance, current issues in the country.”
He assured that PDP will be strengthened by the stakeholders to reclaim the power it lost during the 2015 general elections.
Obaseki on his part commended Atiku for his contributions to the advancement of democracy in the country.
He said: “I cannot thank you enough for the leadership that you continue to provide; the counsel you gave me during my electioneering, the private conversations, and the assistance you rendered to me when we joined the party.
“We had challenges, but you stepped up and threw your weight behind the resolution of the issues,” Obaseki noted.
