The Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has not reopened, the institute’s Director, Information and Public Affairs, Malam Auwalu Umar has said.
In a statement released on Friday morning, Umar said the news making the rounds that the institute has resumed is fake.
He said “the bulletin, which has been making the rounds on social media since September 27, 2022, is, to say the least, fake,” adding that the news did not emanate from the University.
Umar therefore told the public, particularly students and parents to ignore the fake news in its entirety.
Lecturers in the university are also participating in the nationwide ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) seven months ago.
