The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) says it will embark on another industrial action by the end of this month if the Federal Government fails to sign a draft renegotiated agreement of May 2021.
ASUU national president, Prof. Victor Emmanuel disclosed this in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, at the union national executive council meeting.
He said the government should be held responsible for the possible industrial disharmony.
Emmanuel said the union hopes the government will urgently sign the agreement to sustain and improve the current industrial peace on the university campuses.
ASUU had on December 23, 2020, called off its nine months strike it embarked on in February 2020, over the federal government’s refusal to exempt its members from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) pending the approval of the proposed payment system – the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), among other issues.
