Academic activities won’t resume anytime soon across the Nigeria’s federal universities following extension of the ongoing warning strike by lecturers by two months.
The decision to extend the strike was taken at the union’s National Executive Council, (NEC) meeting held in Abuja Sunday night.
The union, on February 14, declared a one-month warning strike to protest non-implementation of the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached with it.
However, the union and federal government failed to arrived at a consensus on the lingering crisis, leading to the extension of the strike, it was learnt.
