Gunmen have gunned down a military officer in Anambra State on Sunday.
The officer has been identified as Major Churchill Orji of the Nigerian Army.
He was killed at Azia, in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state, according to one of his classmates, Leonard Edu.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Mr Edu said Major Orji was “my senior in Agulu Boys Secondary School. He was Our labour prefect then. It’s true he was killed by unknown gunmen at Azia, in Ihiala.”
“Rest in peace my brother from Nneogidi village, Agulu, Major Churchil Orji killed yesterday (Sunday) at Azia/ukpor defending the South-East from the marauders,” he said.
There was no immediate comment from the Anambra police command over the incident.
